If you’re looking for something more exciting and challenging than the ordinary package tours, then our cycling tours are the right choice for you. This adventurous tour will take you pedaling through off the bitten tracks near Zagros mountains. Along the way, you will pass by the nomadic families, their black tents, and grazing animals.
After arriving in Tehran, you will be greeted by your tour guide. The tour will begin at 7 a.m., when we will drive to Absefid (white water) waterfall for 5-6 hours. We will stop for lunch near the 70 meters-high waterfall, then we shall continue driving for another 15 minutes. We will continue riding on a downward sloping asphalt road, which will take us to Baznavid village in 30 minutes. Here we will make a visit to an ancient cemetery called the Lion cemetery. Statues built in the shape of lions are installed on the gravestones of male members of the local nomadic tribes. Afterwards, we will head for the nomadic black tents located uphill, at a 3-hour ride’s distance. We will arrive here at around 7 o’clock in the afternoon, and will stay with the nomads for the night. This will give us the chance to learn more about the nomadic culture and lifestyle. In the morning, we will explore the area and participate in the locals’ experience of making bread, milking the herds, and shepherding.
A real adventure will begin on the second day. We will pedal for 40 kilometers along dirt roads. En route, we will pass by Chin and Saleh Kootah Villages, where we will stop for lunch. Afterwards, we will continue cycling to the next village. Then we will stop at Khouye Village to eat dinner, and stay in a village house for the night. Here you can also socialize with the locals, many of whom used to be nomads in the past.
The third day will take us on an even more exciting path. We will embark on the road to Sar Aqa Seyyed Village. The village plays a vital role in the lives of the nomads living in this region. They pass through the village to Zagros Mountains and stock up on supplies they will need in the days to come. The architecture of the village follows a stair-like model, where the roof of a house functions as the yard for the house above it. We will make a visit to the wonderful waterfall near the village and see a natural salt extraction process too.
On the last day, we will leave Sar Aqa Seyyed Village and drive to Koohrang (also called Chelgerd). Two hours into the road, we will visit an ice cave called Chama Ice Cave. Then we will see the Koohrang spring, which is reputed as the biggest water spring in Iran, yielding enormous volumes of water. We will arrive in Isfahan at night.
