Mountains of Iran are among the most beautiful landscapes of the country. That is why many stories, poems and myths have been narrated about them. Mount Damavand, the highest mountain of the Iranian Plateau, has been the subject of many such narrations. Why not considering adventurous ski tours here, where the journey begins among the clouds and ends in snow-covered valleys.
After picking you up at your hotel, we will drive to Koohrang, in Chahar Mahal o Bakhtiari Province. We will see the Koohrang Waterfall on the way. We will take a rest at a local guesthouse for the night, as three days of ski tour will be ahead of us. When our ski tour guides join us, we will check our equipment and organize our daily schedules.
Today, after a short drive, we’ll reach Samsami. Then, taking our backpacks, we’ll climb up the mountain to have our 8-10 hours ski touring in the pristine landscape. Before retiring for the night in a local guesthouse, we will have a healthy local food.
The third day of our tour will begin by driving to Shah-Mansuri. 8 hours of ski tour is scheduled for this day. The amazing view of the landscape is a reward worth the trouble. We will spend the night at a local house, eat local food and enjoy views of the surrounding nature.
In the morning of the 4th day, we will go to the Gardane-Cheri. Our ski tour will resume on the mountains and hills of the area. At the end of the day, we will be hosted in a local house.
The Lebd Village will be our destination on the 4th day. The village is located near one of the ancient routes in Zagros Mountains used by the nomads. Here, a nomad family on its seasonal migration will be our host. The nomadic camp will be our accommodation to get a rest and prepare ourselves for the next day’s adventure.
Today is the day of migration. Nomads’ day begins at sunrise. When we are with the nomads, we align ourselves to their lifestyle and their routines; which is going to sleep by sunset and wake up by sunrise. After a hearty breakfast which is typically their dairy products, bread made by oak flour and most importantly gi oil which they make it out of butter, the nomads start packing the mules. Then, our ‘Odyssey’ begins. We follow the nomads to accompany them in the unique experience of nomadic life. Sometimes we accompany the families, and sometimes the herd. But all day long, we can hear sounds of a thousand bells and hooves beating on the ground. We also have the chance of enjoying the scenic sceneries of the west of Iran. In the evening, we camp with the nomads somewhere in magnificent Zagros Mountain ranges.

The nomads pack their tents and load them on their mules after breakfast, and the odyssey begins. We will accompany the nomads and learn about their life style first hand. The day will pass by the sounds of the herds’ bells and hooves in the background and hiking in amazing sceneries together with the nomads. In the evening, we will camp somewhere in the Zagros mountains, with the nomads.
The 8th day will be the last day we spend with the nomads. We will continue hiking until we get to the Zerk Village. Here, we will part with the nomads, get on our car and drive to 2 other villages where nomads have settled. We will spend the night at a local house in Khoye Village. This is a naturally sustainable village which has lush gardens, fruit orchards, and is surrounded by mountains. The small museum in the village will be also informative about the nomadic lifestyle.
