The Abbasi Hotel of Isfahan, as the name might imply, captures a true essence of Isfahan. The five-star hotel is not only the oldest hotel of Isfahan but perhaps the entire country. Originally, it was built as a caravanserai in 1750 by Shah Sultan Hossein Safavi. He dedicated the caravanserai to his mother, that’s why it was called Madar Shah Caravanserai (meaning king’s mother). The caravanserai was turned into a guest house in the 20th century. Then in 1967, it was renovated into its present state as a hotel, keeping its historical features. Stepping into the hotel makes one feel stepping in different periods of history, as illustrated by various arts and architectural techniques.
The hotel is located in the heart of Isfahan. It is at only a walking distance from the Chahar Bagh St., Si-o-Se Pol Bridge, and Hasht Behesht Palace. The Chehel Sotun Palace and Naqsh-e Jahan Square are also within walking distance, but it’s better to take a taxi there.
The hotel has 225 rooms and suites. The rooms have different names, depending on their design and location, with a view of the main courtyard or the street. They include standard single, double, courtyard view, and Pardis rooms. The Safavi and Qajar suites are designed using the techniques specific to those eras. There are also the sabz suites (meaning green), as well as the apartments.
In different spaces of the hotel, you can find 6 modern and traditional restaurants, cafes, and traditional teahouses. Its courtyard also offers a unique space for relaxing, having a meal or cup of coffee. In addition to this, the hotel also has at least 9 banquet halls and conference rooms.
