As the second highest mountain range in Iran, the impact of Zagros mountain ranges has been woven to the locals’ lives. The mountains function as a border for Bakhtiari nomad tribes who cross the region during their seasonal migration. These tribes are scattered in different places along the range. They can be spotted in Khuzestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, as well as Isfahan provinces. Many of these tribes settle in the mountains, where they set up their tents in an area known as Poshtkuh. Additionally, there are many villages in this area which have become home to nomads who have settled down.
On our tour, which will last for 2 days, we will use a private 4WD car. This way, we will be able to see more of the Poshtkuh area. Also, we will spend the night with the nomads, sleep in their tents, and experience the lifestyle of the Bakhtiari tribe. But that is not all. We will make a visit at an eco-center called Khoye. Here a sustainable tourism project for preserving nomadic tradition is run by a group of enthusiasts. Then we will hike in the nature, go past a waterfall together with a salt mine, and get to the Sar Agha Seyed Village.
The first day on our itinerary starts by heading to the Poshtkuh Area and Khoye Village from Isfahan. Once in the village, we will explore the nomadic museum. After lunch we will learn about the Eco Center, which was founded in Khoye Village, and its activities. For the night, we will stay at the house of one of the hospitable families, who used to be nomads. This will also give us a unique chance to socialize with the family members and learn more about them. We will also be able to witness their daily routines, like collecting wood, milking the livestock, and preparing fire to make bread.
The second day of our tour promises even more entertainment and adventure. We will start our hiking journey at Khoye Village and head for the beautiful Sar Agha Seyed Village. On the way, we will come across a fierce waterfall. We will climb the rocks around the waterfall to the top, and descend on the other side. There we will be greeted by a salt mine, which has been used by the locals of Sar Agha Seyed Village for centuries. After lunch, we can capture the beauty of the area with our cameras. We can also dive in the river to feel fresh, and explore the steep valleys of Sar Agha Seyed Village. These valleys are famous as the most beautiful ones in Iran. Then in the evening, we will have dinner in Shahr-e Kord city and drive back to Isfahan.
